Auto Repair With a Philanthropic Angle

The Bimmer Rescue team recognizes how fortunate we are to serve the greater Richmond, VA community. That’s why we regularly give back to local non-profit organizations that are having a marked positive impact on Richmond, Short Pump, the West End and the Fan District. It’s our way of strengthening a community that has always been so supportive of our business, as well as sharing our facility and experience with the children who will become tomorrow’s automotive industry professionals. Read on to learn more about the organizations we’re partnered with and how we support their efforts!

Proudly Supporting Our Community

Fatherhood Foundation

We proudly support the Fatherhood Foundation and its goal to build stronger communities. We have participated in two car giveaways with the foundation’s Father Christman initiative. The experience was not only fun but immensely powerful and rewarding. Take a look at the video from the event or click to read the news article

Community Art

A healthy community needs two kinds of people: German automotive technicians, and artists. We support the latter by hosting quarterly art shows right here in our shop. We welcome anyone who would like to support the local arts to our family-friendly events. And just like all the fanciest art galleries of New York, Paris and Milan, we welcome a local food truck to our parking lot whenever we invite the public to one of our art events.

Brakes for Breasts

We are honored to support a great non-profit on its mission to end breast cancer. Brakes for Breasts partners with independent auto repair shops across the country throughout the month of October. We participate by providing our customers with free brake pads, and asking them only to pay for any labor or other parts that are needed. We then donate 10% of the proceeds to Brakes for Breasts’ breast cancer vaccine fund. As one of 131 participating shops that raise approximately $125,000 together annually, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide hope to those who are fighting and at risk of breast cancer!

The Boy Scouts of America

It wasn’t too long ago when youths would learn car repair and maintenance from their dads, while tinkering during their free time, and during their jobs at local gas stations. Unfortunately, that kind of upbringing is becoming increasingly rare these days. Many modern car repairs are too sophisticated even for adult DIYers to manage, and tools, parts and equipment are all becoming prohibitively expensive.

We believe America becomes a better country when more of its people understand how their cars work and how to care for them. That is why we proudly sponsor The Boy Scouts of America’s automotive maintenance merit badge program. We host 15 to 20 Boy Scouts every session so they can learn how engines work, how to change a tire, how to change oil, and other valuable skills. We help prepare boys for a lifetime of rewarding vehicle ownership – or even a productive career in the auto industry.

Girl Scouts of the USA

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only one in five employees at auto dealerships were women in 2016. Less than 1% of all technicians are women as well. We want young women to understand that exciting careers await them in the auto industry, and that they can benefit society as a whole by becoming the experienced, master technicians our country so dearly needs. That’s why we offer the equivalent to merit badge training to Girl Scouts. The pride one takes from having automotive skills is genuinely unisex!

National Society of Black Engineers

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is on a mission to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. We have the privilege of advancing that mission by hosting NSBE’s Youth Chapter STEM clinics which introduce kids to all the rewarding careers that await in the rapidly evolving automotive industry: engineering, computer programming, software design, engine development, information technology, marketing – and of course good old-fashioned hands-on auto repair!
